A day with mom or dad

Spending the day with your kids is important, It will help you grow a closer relationship filled with trust and understanding. When you teach your child that they are important to you they will see you as important as well, they will listen better and trust you more. You don't have to spoil them at amazing pizza machine for this infact you will spend less face to face time with them. Spending time alone with each of your children doesn't have to break the bank.

Baby Constipation

Baby Constipation is one of the worst things to deal with. First it makes your baby onery and irritable because their little tummy hurts because they can't go (a lot of gas). This makes it miserable for mom and dad. Not only is baby crying, but you don't know exactly why. Once you figure out it is constipation, your problem is solved! Almost -

Teething

Teething is a part of a baby’s development. It can be a hard time for both the child and the parents. Teething can cause the child to be more irritable and onery, drooling, and soreness or tender gums due to the teeth trying to break through the gums. This is a time in life when you want to find ways to sooth the baby’s pain, so that everyone can be happy.

Potty Training

Potty training can be a challenge and seem like it will never happen, especially if you have a stubborn child. I have had four kids and am in the process of potty training my last, child number 4. So far it is going slow, but I know it will get there because I have seen it happen with each of my other three children. Each child was different with how we potty trained them and what incentives we used for each of them.

Vocabulary you don't want your child to say

Words like no, and mine are some of the worst words you can hear from a toddler’s mouth, but what about teens?  Besides the obvious, I have a no no list of words in my home for any age.

Babys obessesion with the 3 B's- blankets, binkies, and breasts, how to break the habits.

Addictions are hard to break no matter the age, but age can be key when it comes to baby addictions as is the case with binkies. They say at 9-10 months old, babies have a lapse in their need for oral stimulation. This I found to be absolutely true. I had a baby completely dependent on a binky, he had a broken collar bone and there for as a young infant drew to constant sucking for some satisfaction. When he turned 9 months, I started removing the binky from his mouth at night and hiding it in the morning till he asked for it. As I tried to keep him occupied over the next few days not to think of it, then eventually he stopped asking for it. It also helps to replace it with small munchies, like the rice wafers for example.

Too many toys? What do I do with all the new stuff?

Do you have way too many toys especially now that Christmas/Hanukah is over? Well here’s an idea. Pack toys for car trip, doctors office and church bags, switch out groups of toys seasonally that whay they never get old!

How to teach you're 12 month old

There is nothing harder then teaching pretoddlers. This is a term I use for children that are 9 months to 24 months. They can display all the misbehaviors of toddlers without any of the understanding of older toddlers to train them. A time out before the age of 18 months won’t do anything, raising your voice often gets you laughed at. So what do you do when your child starts displaying inappropriate behavior?

To time out or not to timeout and how

Time outs are defiantly something I suggest. They are the perfect way to discipline without having to raise your voice or spank. Just a simple “ok timeout, no ________.” Such as when my son starting hitting other children when he was finally old enough I would say “Ok timeout no hit.” Not yelling just commanding. Now according to the leading authority on disipine, Boystown parenting guidelines states, timeouts are to be giving when a child misbehaves. Time outs are 1 minute per age and state simple one sentence explanation of why behavior was inappropriate, previous to setting the child down for timeout. After timeout immediate loving response to child is appropriate. ( this is not word for word quote just summarized)

My baby won't let me set him down

Most babies love to be held, and if you are one of the unfortunate parents that read a book about how you can never give to much love to a baby, you probably haven't showered in 2 days and have a laundry pile as large as the couch. What to do? Learn to put your baby down in a way that is easy for you and the baby.
