Valentine’s Day party!! This is great for couples you know
who don’t want to spend a ton of money going out for v day. It is also great
for a pre-teen/teen party to keep your teen out of any trouble, and keep the romance
level at g rated.
If you have a 14 year old daughter or a daughter of 12-18 you
may like this idea and parents of teenage boys please don’t let me discourage
you from trying this either. Now my daughter is single and isn’t allowed to
date till she is 16 but this is still a great idea for her to get into the
spirit! Would you like to keep an eye on your child’s Valentine’s Day
activities? Well here’s an idea - throw a party. Make it a surprise party and
invite her friends with a plus 1 on the card for older teens and her boyfriend/girlfriend,
if your child has one. Send the invite out via one good friend of your
daughter/son then 2 days before and with the RSVPs go ahead and send your
daughter/son the invite with a big yelling of surprise!!! You do want to give them time to get ready
for the party too and maybe even help clean up the house. In my home I could combine the parent and teen
parties easily, a lot of my friends have kids my daughter age who are also her good
friends.
Ok party details.
Costume parties are always fun, but you must set the theme. It's more fun when everyone has to dress in an era, or like a theme. I did one with everyone dressing like the 1940's, and let me tell you if 12 year olds can figure it out so can your friends and teens.
Food:
Rent or buy or burrow a chocolate fountain. Grab lots of
strawberries, bananas, sponge cake and any other fruit you like with chocolate.
Cut them up the day of, buy them the day before. Teen food- make some
brownies, add fudge frosting and heart sprinkles, sugar cookies in the shape of
hearts, frosted or not up 2 you. Add a bag or two of chips, dip and maybe even sandwiches
cut into hearts with cookie cutters. Cherry grenadine in sprite with a few
cherries in a bowl next to it completes the teen food.
For Adults kill the heart sandwiches and any thing else that seems to youthful to you.Instead go for a few appetizers/ desserts from our starts and ends section.

Games:
I love my neighbor- everyone sits down in a circle and someone in
the middle yells I love my neighbor that has brown hair (example) then everyone
with brown hair has to stand up and switch places with someone else who also
stood up. Mean while the person in the middle tries to take an open seat,
leaving a different man out. Then next middle person says what they
love about their neighbor, all of those people stands up and the middle person tries to take a seat from someone else, if they fail they just go again and so on till the kids get board of that.
Celebrity couples- before
everyone comes, you will come up with a list of celebrity couples, and have cards made up
with a few details of the female with some snidbits about their boyfriend and
visa versa alot of details about that male with some snidbits about their wife/girlfriend. Give out the cards and have everyone study them and put them in
their pockets. They are not allowed to say who they are or who they are dating,
married to etc. Then have them mingle and tell some of the details about
themselves and even ask others in the room specific questions about who they only from info on their cards to see if any answers match up to their cards. You keep playing trying to
find their other member of the relationship they are in, first pair to couple
up wins.
What do you love about me? -Send
one person out of the room. While that person is gone, the remaining people
choose something that the whole group has in common with this person. Something
they like about the exited person. It can be a body part (hair, height),
physical possession (cars, pants), or more abstract things, like a sense of
humor or a favorite pastime. When the exiled person returns, he or she asks
each player, “What do you love about me?” Each person responds with an
adjective, oly an adjective. For example, if the item is “hair,” the adjectives could be
“lustrous,” “brown,” or “curly.” The trick is trying to use descriptive
adjectives that are clever but don’t give away the answer too easily. When the
exited person gets it correctly they choose the next person to leave.
Decorations – The trick here is age appropriate. Streamers, balloons cool teen plates and posters such as twilight and
heart cutouts in a few places with Hershey’s hugs and kisses and conversation hearts spread all over
plus a few paper pink, white and red table cloths is great for teen parties.
For adult party decorations- White or black table cloths, some red doilies, some flowers and candles, something sparkling (I use grape juice but
whatever you prefer), a few good looking platters with great appetizers (look in our starts
and ends section) the Hersey’s hugs and kisses everywhere. And maybe a few
printed out love sayings draped around the room for some interest could be
great.
