Satin Flowers

These flowers can be used to sew or glue on many things, such as jazz up a purse or t-shirt, blouse, also great as a hair clip, just glue flower onto top of plastic hair clip! This makes a great little gift for a friend, neighbor, mother or daughter. Awesome mini present for mayday or valentines day!

A friend taught me how to do this in a class at church. These flowers are really easy to make. 1st print out this blog cut out the templates, don't worry if you don't cut out the circles correctly.
For this you need to circle template. A piece of scrap satin large enough for template, straight pins, a candle, a hot glue gun, and little beads or  little pearls

Now that you have printed this blog out and pinned the template to your piece of satin and cut out the template, you should have 5 circles growing in size. Take the candle and light it. Carefully put the edge of the circle up to the flame of the candle. Try and not burn but just brown the edges slowly turning the fabric till the entire outer edge of the circle is a little crumpled and browned. If you burn it a little that's ok, when its all together it will give it more character. Now try also not to get a lot of wax on your fingers or the satin. You will notice as you crumble up the satin it will sort of round. With satin shiny side up you want to encourage the satin circle to turn up not down. This is forming a petal for you.  After you have crumbled all 5 circles, take #5 the largest circle and set up shiny side up. Set a little drip of hot glue. Now while the glue is still hot push #4 on top of #5 shiny side up again. Put glue on # 4 add # 3 shiny side up. keep this up until all circles have been added slowly growing in numbers and size. When finished a little glue can be added to middle of #1 and add the little beads or pearls to the middle. Your flower is now complete and can be stitched to an outfit, purse or glued to a hair clip. Don't you look smart now! Enjoy!
