Pregnancy can be really hard, but almost unbarable when you have nausea and or heartburn. I have both currently, lucky me right. Well I have some great ideas for you that have really helped me.
Nausea
Lets start with nausea if you aren't at the point of medicine or you are using it and it isn't enough try these. First thing I can tell you is that when you first wake up the first thing you have to do no matter how hungry you are or not is to eat something, something small. An empty stomach is a sick stomach. I have some ginger snap cookies next to my bed to eat, 1 or two in the morning before I even try and sit up. That helps with morning sickness. Ginger in general is great for nausea. Pick up some crystallized ginger. It is sort of like candy, you can keep a bag of it in your purse just for emergencies. I also keep a bottled water in my purse for the same reason. That helps a lot. Water can make a big difference with nausea. Ok, last thing for me is smell. I find if I am changing a particularly bad smelling diaper, a couple of sips of juice or something that is strong in flavor and smell helps to not get sick. I try and keep a piece of gum or candy or juice with me at all times.
Heartburn
Heartburn can be helped with Tums of course, however sometimes I need something more. I often turn to a simple glass of milk for relief, another great help I have found is popcorn it seems to absorb. You also might want to avoid things that are high in acid such as tomatoes, tomato sauce and fruit juices. If heartburn continues and gets progressively worse it can cause serious damage. Make sure your doctor is aware of your condition at all times. Hopes that helps and congrats!
