The Five Minute Date

I recently read in a book, How to Date your Wife by Stan Cronin, had some good ideas on dating. One of them was the five minute date. Sometimes we think we need to find a babysitter, the time, and the money to go and have a good time with our spouse - not true. In his book Stan Cronin, addresses this issue by intiating the five minute date rule.

The five minute date rule is basically allowing you and your spouse to get reconnected in five minutes. The key to this is to find out how each other's day went and if there are any concerns or desires that need to be addressed. I find this method of "dating" works best when the kids are in bed so that you truly have time to focus on each other. And in most cases the date ends up to be 30 minutes or more.

In essence to me a date doesn't have to be planned or mean you spend money but spending time together. That's why there can be the 10 minute date, 30 minute date, or even 2 hours and beyond date (for us this includes a movie at home after the kids have gone to bed - more adult approved - not cartoons). In any fashion we are spending time together and that is what counts. Let's see how creative you can get on your next time and find out on what is truly important - Each other!
