That's where all of my information for this blog has come from. I am a now stay at home mom which alone btw totally qualifies me, but I was previously a professional chef for a local French restaurant, and before that I was a sous chef for a local country club. I have taught classes to both high school students as well as people just learning. I plan to offer both basic training for cooks learning new technique, and fun recipes in general. Look for recipes such as cakes, appetizers, and multi course meal plans inside the party section. FYI, a little bit about the author- first of all I can’t spell nor and I an expert in grammar so you must forgive and look past for the message. Also if you don’t know me, my sass is all in fun. And more important I am not really this into myself, but I thought it would be fun for the blog to write it this way. In reality I am a humble servant of God who deeply believes all things are possible through the miracles of Jesus Christ. More about that can be found on a different type of blog. So back to this one.
I am currently learning my way through sewing. My poor children, the outfits they have had to wear while I am still learning! This new sewing talent (if you could call it that yet) however has been amazing for baby shower gifts and stuff animals for friends and family, napkins, table runners and more. I am trying to learn more about clothing, I have made a few dresses, skirts etc, but I am not a dressmaker by any means, so most projects will be something you guys can do as well.
Years before my culinary career my family was in real estate. I worked in my younger days as a professional stager, with my mother. I love design and have helped a few friends decorate their homes. I am not a professional organizer by any means, however I have in my constant challenge with my own home learned a lot of tricks and ways to make my home work better for me. I have worked with multiple professional home organizers and read alot of books. This has even spilled over to friend houses, where I have been able to bless my friends with help reorganizing their homes. It is always easier with two people on a job then 1.
I am married to a loving, attentive husband with two children, and another on the way. I have taken many parenting classes, and have been blessed with a few foster kids over the years, perfecting my parenting skills with them and my own children. And the mother of the year award goes too… 1st thing I have to tell you am I a perfect mother? NO. But I try really hard and I am constantly working on improving and perfecting my skills. I am a happily married woman, now. My husband and I have been through the ringer, and after counseling, workshops and an almost divorce we have made it. Thank God because I am not getting any younger. I am happy to share what worked for us and what didn't and some insights I have gained in both the male and female mentality. P.S. men are still from mars!
I am a party nut! I love parties, I have thrown parties with 50 or more kids for my children's birthday,(I know you are thinking this woman is insane, but take the ideas and dull them down to fit your party) as well as elegant dinner parties. You will find everything you need to know about table settings, invites, games, decorations and food to go with many a themes, or just simple elegance.
Thrifty has become my middle name. I have learned after becoming a stay at home mom, how to live it up minus 1 income. I was raised “privileged” and after marriage realized that milk doesn’t automatically appear in the fridge. That comes out of this crazy thing called a budget. I hate those btw but we all have to live inside them. This will hopefully help you to do so as well as have money left over for some fun things. I hope to have probably not every week but often the price match ads up for my area, Omaha Ne. With these tough times you will find different ways to survive this tough economy.
I truly hope you find some insights and great tips to improve your lifestyle and your home. I am not a know-it-all although it may seem like it at times but I have over the years learned a few different skills. I promise to give you only information that is from trusted websites and tested and true advice. These sources are websites from major magazines, professionals I regularly deal with and with the help of my co-author Tricia (who went to school on home design and is an awesome cook, mother and friend and has a talent in everything creative) to enrich your life. Enjoy.
